Profile

Jan Webb’s research changed radically following her contribution to the Royal Society of Edinburgh 2012 Inquiry Facing Up To Climate Change, with insights into causes of climate crisis, major risks to all life and necessity to end reliance on fossil fuel energy. Jan investigates the tight coupling between modern societies and fossil fuels across sectors and scales, from global financial investors to low-income households. As UK Energy Research Centre Co-Director, Jan leads multi-disciplinary research on the potential of integrated local and regional energy systems to improve ‘whole system’ resilience, affordability and efficiency, as part of future sustainable prosperity.
